Elk Grove Village Pet Vet – Dr. Greg Stram
Welcome to Elk Grove Pet Clinic. My name is Dr. Greg Stram. I’d like to give you some information about Elk Grove Pet Clinic and introduce you to an interesting “resident” that we have here (featured in this video). I opened up Elk Grove Pet Clinic in December of 1992. I have been a resident of Elk Grove Village since 1957.
I grew up in Elk Grove. I went away to college (Iowa State University) to attend veterinary school. I then moved back to the Village right after graduation in 1985. I’ve been back here ever since.
I practiced for one year at Lombard Veterinary Hospital. I practiced for two years at Boone Animal Hospital in Western Springs. I practiced for five years at Glencoe Animal Hospital in Northbrook.
Elk Grove Village Pet Vet for Cats and Dogs.
I opened up here in December of 1992. Right now it is I and my associate. We practice veterinary medicine here. We mainly take care of dogs and cats. Occasionally, we will see a few exotic small animals in our clinic (pocket pets, rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas, etc.). We don’t actually specialize in seeing those types of animals. If it is a little more complicated than what we are used to handling, then we feel very confident in the specialists that we can refer to you. Those specialists can handle most of those situations.
I practice mainly on dogs and cats. We are able to perform spay and neuter surgeries. We declaw cats. We do complete veterinary dentistry. We do all of their vaccinations. We do heartworm tests. We’ve got a complete laboratory where we can run blood tests and urinalysis and fecal analysis. We’ve got a laboratory to where we can send blood if we need tests done that are more complicated than what we can handle here.
We’ve got a complete pharmacy that we use to dispense the medications that we use to treat the animals. We do recommend a heartworm preventative on a monthly basis. We’ve got flea products to prevent and treat flea infections.
We’ve got a full surgery suite. We’ve got radiology capabilities. We’ve got an ultrasound device. We’ve got a therapeutic Class IV laser.
We can handle just about any of the situations that might come up. If there is anything that is beyond our capabilities, we can refer you to a number of specialists that would be in the area that could handle a more complicated case.
Elk Grove Village Pet Vet and his African Spurred Tortoise. Come visit us.
As you continue to watch this video, you can see that I am holding an African Spurred Tortoise. Her name is Trojan. I got her when she was about the size of a quarter (about ten years ago). She’s been slowly growing out of every cage that we could possibly put her in. She’s got a pretty large enclosure now. She eats a lot of lettuce and keeps growing and growing and growing. She will end up being about three feet in diameter. They tend to live more than one hundred years. They seem to like people pretty well. They follow around people as much as you will allow them. I got her from a friend of mine who was breeding these tortoises. My friend thought that it would be a nice addition to the animal hospital. I do not know how much longer I will be able to keep adding on to this tortoise’s cage. One of these days, I think that she will inherit an exam room. That will be her enclosure.
