Kennel Assistant:

Less than 15 hours per week. Great after school & weekend position for animal lovers. THINKING ABOUT GETTING INTO THE ANIMAL PROFESSION??? Well, come get your start here!

Required for this position: Experience walking large dogs & dogs that may pull on leash walks is ideal.  The ability to follow oral and written directions.  The ability to learn how to recognize certain behaviors in animals.  The ability to learn and understand basic medical terminology.  The ability to administer basic oral and topical medications to dogs and cats.  The ability to ask or admit when a task is unclear. The means to do off hours weekend and holiday dog walks, as well as care for all the other animals in the hospital during that time.  Occasional on-call help may be needed weekday mornings if you want more hours.

Task Descriptions: As a kennel assistant, your job entails several important aspects of our hospital. This position mainly involves routine animal care and treatment as well as hospital cleanliness. It is most important that you help ensure that all the animals in our hospital feel safe and comfortable.

  • Assist any staff member in any way when asked to do so.
  • Perform all written and oral “Daily, Weekday, and Saturday” kennel tasks.
  • Come in during closed hours to work on the weekends and holidays to care for all of the animals in the hospital. Help may also be needed on Wednesday mornings as well.

 

Full-Time Receptionist Wanted

Elk Grove Pet Clinic is a progressive 25-year-old small animal general practice in the Northwestern suburbs of Chicago who is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic part-time experienced veterinary receptionist to join our wonderful team. We are looking for a confident, bright, hardworking, self-motivated, and dedicated team player. We need a reliable individual who is able to prioritize and multi-task with little direction. Veterinary reception experience is a required.

We have a team led by Dr. Gregory S. Stram, and followed by 1 certified veterinary technician, 2 technicians, 1 assistant, 4 receptionists, 4 kennel assistants, and some seasonal staff. We have a reputation for excellent patient care with dedicated and experienced support staff.

-Saturdays 8am~1:30pm (3/month average)

Veterinary Technician:

Elk Grove Pet Clinic is a progressive 24-year-old small animal general practice in the Northwestern suburbs of Chicago who is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic experienced technician to join our wonderful team. 5 years+ advanced veterinary technician experience required. Must be highly skilled in surgery/anesthesia, dental cleanings, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement/management, hospitalized care/treatments, and very confident in client communication. We are looking for a hardworking, self-motivated, and dedicated team player. We need a reliable individual who is able to prioritize and multi-task with little direction. Our technicians are highly skilled and utilized to the fullest. This is a fantastic environment for learning and growing professionally. Modern computerized facility includes: Companion Therapy Class IV Laser, most up to date ultrasound, surgical suite, two dentistry tables, full lab with IDEXX VetLab (ProCyte hematology analyzer, Cataylst chemistry analyzer, VetStat electrolyte & blood gas analyzer, and the SNAPshot), scil V5 Vet View monitor (ECG, NIBP, SpO2, esophageal stethoscope, oral and rectal temperature probes, and Oridion Microstream Capnography), two scil V1 Vet View monitors, one Contec Veterinary Monitor, manual Doppler BP, Tonopen, IV fluid pumps, water blanket, Bair Huggers, and in-house radiology.

Shifts: (26-37+hrs/wk)

  • Every Monday, Thursday, Friday: 8am~1pm AND 2pm~6:30pm
  • Every Wednesday PM: 1:30pm~8:30pm
  • Saturdays: 8am~1:30pm (ONLY 2-3/month)
  • Early AM Wednesdays (1-2hr shift) hospitalized patient and/or kennel care (ONLY 1-2/month)
  • Very rare Saturday night or Sunday (1-2hr shift) hospitalized patient care
  • Possibly pick up random 4-8hr shifts when needed for techs/receptionists who may need time off.

 

(Possibility for flexibility with shifts if the right candidate comes along.)
